Mental health is defined as the ability to love, and the ability to work; to be able to have stable and emotionally fulfilling relationships, to take care of your daily needs, and to be able to use your time creatively and productively. I offer person-centered counseling that focuses on helping clients understand their thoughts and feelings in order to change their behavior.
I provide individual counseling for clients across the lifespan, but specialize in children, teens, and young adults. A lot of my clients have complicated diagnostic histories and have struggled to "click" with others. I enjoy making connections with my clients and helping them finding solutions to current challenges while planning for future success. I have a lot of experience in helping clients with ADHD, Autism, emerging personality disorders, or other challenging behavioral issues, as well as coping with depression, anxiety, and life changes.
I am a talk-based therapist, though I use active, experiential, and play based approaches when appropriate to forge connection with my clients. Most of my sessions are based around the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but I draw exercises from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills to address specific emotional challenges.
I usually schedule an initial 90 minute diagnostic interview to go over your or your child's history, present concerns, and future goals in detail, while leaving time to schedule future appointments. Afterwards, I usually meet with people once a week or twice a month for 45 minute sessions. My standard rate is $150 per session, but I am open to sliding scale to make therapy accessible to more families.
While I work closely with the parents of my child and adolescent clients and always strive to keep them in the loop of what is being worked on in the room, I do not do long term family or couples counseling. If you would like a referral for those services, I'm happy to give recommendations!

I'm a native Houstonian and a licensed professional counselor. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2014 with a degree in Political Science, and earned my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2019 from the University of St. Thomas. My favorite thing about working with young adults on the spectrum is getting to learn about others' passions and special interests. I'm personally passionate about history, philosophy, and neurodivergence. I live with my hedgehog, Creechur, and my little black dog, Hawkeye (named after the surgeon, not the superhero).
